Vinstra typically has very little water, as there is a dam not long before the put-in. When there is too much water in Sjoa and Otta, beginner's may enjoy a day in Vinstra practicing their eddies. To carry out is very strenuous.

It is important to note that the dam may release water without any prior notice.

About catchment weather

The numbers shown are a basin mean: averaged across a 2.5 km grid covering the upstream catchment of the attributed gauge. They are not point readings at the put-in. Local conditions at your put-in can differ: wind sheltering, valley shading, and micro-climate effects don't show up in a basin-area average.

Source: MET Norway locationforecast, deterministic single-run (not an ensemble). Cadence: refreshed once per day at 00:35 UTC. Horizon: hourly to +54h, then 6-hourly through +240h. The 6-hourly tail feeds the 7-day daily strip.
